My name is Richard Winters, and I’m an orthopedic physical therapist. I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, and went on to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Neumann University. Since obtaining my degree, I’ve been exclusively practicing in orthopedic outpatient therapy facilities. I’m also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), and I’m certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT).
I specialize in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to: athletic and recreational injuries, acute and chronic spine and extremity pains, pre- and post-operative orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip and shoulder replacements; rotator cuff and labrum repairs; ACL reconstructions; meniscal repairs; etc.), along with general deconditioning, and gait/balance dysfunctions.
I believe in establishing a strong therapeutic alliance with my patients, firmly grounded in trust, commitment, and promotion of self-efficacy. Accordingly, every session with me here at Independence Spine & Orthopedic will be completely one-on-one. I also have Direct Access Authorization. This enables me to treat a patient for up to 30 days without a script from a referring physician. If deemed necessary to continue treatment 30 days after treatment is initiated, a valid script would be required (from an orthopedist, primary care physician, family doctor, etc.).
Independence Spine & Orthopedic is conveniently located in Wrightstown Medical Center. Wrightstown Medical Center houses Wrightstown Family Medicine along with offices in the Doylestown Health system for specialty services: Colon and Rectal Surgery, Neurology, Vascular Medicine, Urology, Gastroenterology.
When I’m not working with patients, I enjoy traveling and hanging out with my beautiful wife, Caroline; our beautiful daughter, Giada; and our beloved dog, Rio. I also enjoy working out, hiking, catching up with friends at local restaurants and breweries, and spending quality time with my family - especially with my two amazing nephews, Cooper and Calvin.
I greatly look forward to meeting and working with you, your friends, and your family. Call, text, or email us now to learn how to get started with Independence Spine & Orthopedic!
